Field of Remembrance at the going down of the sun at Salamanca Lawn at Wellington Botanic Gardens, April 2016

Image No. A7R2-Field of Remembrance

The last rays of the sun light up a large number of personalised white crosses to commemorate soldiers around the Wellington region who made the supreme sacrifice during World War One (1914 - 1918).

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Image captured hand-held with the 42 megapixel full frame Sony A7R II camera using the excellent Sony FE 55mm F1.8 ZA Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* lens.

To obtain the best appreciation of the quality of the above image it should be displayed at a relatively small size, because it has been reduced in size to a width of only 870 pixels from its original width of 7952 pixels. In addition, the image has been saved at a low quality setting.

Below is a crop from the above image which shows the detail that can be seen when the image is viewed in an imaging program at 100% magnification, or when a large print is made:
