In the free online encyclopedia  "Wikipedia",  it mentions the following about Smaug the dragon, created in the fantasy novel "The Hobbit" by J.R.R. Tolkien:

"Smaug (/smɡ/[1]) is a fictional dragon in J. R. R. Tolkien's 1937 novel The Hobbit. He was a fearsome dragon who invaded the Dwarf kingdom of Erebor 150 years prior to the events described in the novel. A group of 13 Dwarves mounted a quest to take the kingdom back, aided by the wizard Gandalf and the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins. Smaug is described as "a most specially greedy, strong and wicked worm."

The fantasy novel "The Hobbit" by J.R.R. Tolkien, is described in Wikipedia as follows:

"The Hobbit, or There and Back Again, better known by its abbreviated title The Hobbit, is a  fantasy novel  and children's book by  J. R. R. Tolkien. It was published on 21 September 1937 to wide critical acclaim, being nominated for the  Carnegie Medal  and awarded a prize from the  New York Herald Tribune  for best juvenile fiction. The book remains popular and is recognized as a classic in children's literature."
